What to flag
The most actionable monitoring approach works by exception. Set thresholds, not manual reviews:
- Sponsored CTR below 0.35% on a keyword with significant spend – the creative is not competing for attention at that position

- Sharp CTR drop on a previously stable listing – competitor creative or price change has shifted the search result landscape

Amazon's main image requirements are strict for good reason: the white background standard creates a consistent browse experience that shoppers trust. But within those constraints, there is a meaningful range of creative latitude that most sellers systematically underuse.
The most common failure mode is the default product shot: item centered on white background, straight-on angle, shot at adequate but not exceptional quality. It meets Amazon's requirements. It also looks exactly like hundreds of competing listings. - Drop shadows and surface reflections. Compliant and effective for white or light-colored products that otherwise disappear against the white background. Keep it subtle – the goal is separation, not drama.
- Shoot at 2,000–3,000px minimum. Amazon's minimum is 1,000px, but higher resolution renders visibly sharper on high-DPI mobile screens. Many catalogues are still running images shot years ago. The quality gap is noticeable before the listing is ever clicked.
